On 17 January 2025, the BioFairNet (Bioeconomy and Circular Economy Fair Network) project was officially launched at an inaugural meeting in Naples, Italy. Funded by the Horizon Europe programme and the European Commission under grant number 101181568, this ambitious project aims to transform greenhouse gas (GHG)-intensive industries into leaders in the circular bioeconomy. Eco Imagination is proud to be a partner in this initiative, which will run until December 2028, with a total budget of €4.4 million.
BioFairNet: A solution for industries with a high environmental impact
The agriculture and mining sectors are among the most polluting due to their high GHG emissions and environmental footprint. Transitioning these industries to sustainable practices is essential to achieve the EU's climate targets:
✅ 55% reduction in emissions by 2030
✅ Carbon neutrality by 2050
BioFairNet offers an innovative and collaborative approach by developing digital tools and concrete solutions to help these industries evolve towards a circular bioeconomy.
Key objectives of the BioFairNet project
🔹 An interactive digital platform: It will be used to map, inform and share knowledge between players in the sector.
🔹 Transition tools: A web tool will allow stakeholders to co-create and implement sustainable practices.
🔹 Sectoral studies: An in-depth analysis of current practices will identify the best transition paths.
🔹 Stakeholder involvement: Co-creation, testing and validation of solutions with local manufacturers and experts.
A committed international consortium
The BioFairNet project is led by a consortium of 12 organisations based in Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Greece, Canada and Kenya, led by the University of Naples Federico II.
Eco Imagination, a player in sustainable transformation
As a partner of the BioFairNet project, Eco Imagination will actively contribute to the communication and dissemination of results to maximize the impact of the project. We will put our expertise in awareness raising and stakeholder engagement at the service of this transition towards a greener and fairer economy.
